CARMINA

Português Nascida em 1940, Carmina construiu um percurso pouco comum para a sua geração. Trabalhou nos correios em Vila Nova de Famalicão antes de partir para Londres, em 1964, motivada pela vontade de conhecer outras realidades. Foi nesse período que iniciou um percurso artístico que a levou a integrar um grupo de espetáculos e a viajar por diferentes países, regressando mais tarde a Portugal, onde permaneceu até aos dias de hoje. Através do retrato, da observação do quotidiano e da documentação do arquivo pessoal de Carmina, este trabalho procura explorar a forma como uma vida é narrada por quem a viveu. Entre fotografias antigas, objetos e lugares, o projeto constrói um retrato que ultrapassa a dimensão individual da sua história e propõe uma reflexão sobre o envelhecimento, a memória e a construção da identidade ao longo do tempo. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Born in 1940, Carmina followed a path that was unusual for her generation. She worked at the post office in Vila Nova de Famalicão before moving to London in 1964, driven by a desire to experience different ways of life. It was during this period that she embarked on an artistic career, joining a performance group that took her to different countries before she eventually returned to Portugal, where she has lived ever since. Through portraiture, the observation of everyday life, and the documentation of Carmina's personal archive, this project explores how a life is narrated by the person who lived it. Bringing together old photographs, objects, and places, the project constructs a portrait that extends beyond the personal dimension of her story, offering a reflection on ageing, memory, and the construction of identity over time.
